Midland County is located in Michigan. The county's name is due to its closeness to the geographical Lower Peninsula's geographical center.
Midland County was founded in 1831. However, it was not until 1855 that the county was officially organized.
Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
As of the 2020 Census, the population of Midland County was 83,494.

For many centuries, Midland County was inhabited by Native Americans, and by the time of European contact it was inhabited by the Chippewa Indian Tribe.
The mission of the Midland County Board of Commissioners is to perform their legally constituted county government responsibilities, which are to protect the health, welfare and safety of the residents of our community and our employees. The Board will demonstrate fiscal responsibility, maintain credibility and build public trust and assume leadership in the development and improvement of county services and programs. The Board will provide for the delivery of essential services through cooperative interaction with all county elected officials, other units of government and community agencies.

The Pere Marquette Rail-Trail (PMRT) is a rail trail in Michigan occupying a 28-mile (45 km) abandoned CSX railroad corridor in Midland County and Isabella County that was once part of the Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad.

The Santa House is a holiday staple in the Midland community. The house is located next to the Midland County Courthouse. The present house was built in 1987 with assistance from the Midland Area Community Foundation and generous donors. It continues to operate annually, thanks to the donation of time from volunteers and to endowed funds held at Midland Area Community Foundation that support the yearly operation of the house.
We are unique among arts centers, encouraging participation in as well as appreciation for art, music, science and history. Our museums showcase this philosophy. All ages can have fun exploring hands-on science, art and history exhibits.
We are proud to continue to support Great Lakes Bay teachers and home educators who wish to introduce their students to the wonder of art, science, and history through educational opportunities at the Center!
