Upcoming tire collection dates

When improperly stored, tires are an easy place for mosquitoes to breed in large quantities. Disposing of old tires is a simple way to help prevent the development of mosquitoes in your area.

January blood drive
Midland County is teaming up with the City of Midland for a blood drive. The drive is Thursday January 12, 2023. The blood drive is to be held in the Board of Commissioners Room of the County Services Building. Appointment times are from 10:00 am until 3:30 pm. There are many appointment times still available.
You are able to make your donation appointment online. You will be allowed to make an appointment in available time slots. This link also allows you to search for other donation dates and sites if this drive is not convenient for you. You can also call 866-642-5663 or go to http://versiti.org/MI to schedule an appointment or ask questions about eligibility.

Chippewa nature center
Chippewa Nature Center is one of the largest private non-profit nature centers in the United States. Through the years, CNC has grown from its original 198 acre parcel and an all-volunteer staff to include over 1,500 acres, 40 staff members and hundreds of volunteers. Over 70,000 people visit CNC every year, including 1,000 Nature Day Campers and thousands of school children.

Household Hazardous Waste

Household hazardous materials (HHM) can lead to contamination of groundwater, surface water, well water, or other water sources when spilled on the ground, poured down the drain, or placed in trash containers.

This is your opportunity to safely and properly dispose of most hazardous materials you may have in your home.

You must have an appointment to participate in this program. Please use our appointment scheduler to reserve your appointment. See list of acceptable materials below.

Please take your materials to the Midland City Landfill, 4311 E. Ashman (East of Waldo Road).

We accept:

Garden Products: Bug Sprays, Ant Poisons, Insecticide Powders, Fertilizers, Weed Killers, Old gas/oil mixtures

Cleaning Products: Drain Cleaners, Floor Waxes, Furniture Polishes, Bleach & Ammonia Products, Oven Cleaners, Solvents & Degreasers.

Personal & Health Care: Hair Sprays, Dyes, Shoe Polish, Aerosols, Nail Polishes & Removers

Paint Products: Paint Thinner, Oil-Based Paints, Brush Cleaners, Paint Strippers, Spray Cans, Lacquers & Varnishes

Automotive Products: Spray Paints, Auto Polishes & Waxes, Battery Acid, AntiFreeze, Transmission Fluid

Other: Household Batteries, Mercury Thermometers, Old Ag Herbicides & Insecticides.

Items that are NOT accepted at our HHM drop-off location:

all medications - may be dropped off at the Law Enforcement Center or at Dump Your Drugs scheduled days
used auto batteries
motor oil
gas cylinders
ammunition
radioactive materials
large quantities of material generated from a business operation

Other Disposal Options:

Latex paint (water is listed as an ingredient or soap and water for brush cleaning will be listed) should be dried out by placing cat litter, sand or crumpled newspaper in can; when dry, place at curb with your weekly pickup.

Midland Recyclers accepts household batteries and E-Waste year round (computer monitors & accessories, cell phones, small appliances, electric power tools, flat screen tv's only--no projection or tube type tv's); call 631-1668.

AutoZone, Quality Transmission & Auto Repair, & O'Reilly Auto Parts accept motor oil, transmission fluid and hydraulic fluid.
